NAWALPARASI: The Department of Forest and Soil Conservation and Devchuli Municipality of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta Purba) district have signed an agreement to fell 646 trees to clear space for the construction of a trauma centre.
The facility will be built in Devchuli Municipality-17.
According to Mayor Hari Prasad Neupane, the recent agreement has cleared the way for the long-awaited health facility’s construction.
Two hectares of forest land near Jharahi Stream in Devchuli-17 have been allocated for the trauma centre.
A Cabinet meeting on July 29, 2024, had approved the allocation of forest land and authorized the felling of trees.
Following this decision, Devchuli Municipality allocated Rs 16 million to the Department of Forest and Soil Conservation to move forward with the project.
The agreement was signed by Mayor Neupane, Ward No. 17 Chairman Ganesh Shah, Deputy Director General of the Department Dhananjay Lamichhane, and Undersecretary Rambalak Prasad Yadav.
The trees will be cleared as per the agreement to allow construction to proceed.
The project will be contracted through the Urban Development and Building Construction Project, Chitwan, with Rs 100 million already secured for this multi-year initiative.
