NC leader Koirala and then UNMIN Chief Ian Martin hold meeting

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala and Ian Martin, the then Chief of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN), held a meeting today. The UNMIN played a significant role in Nepal’s peace process.

Dr Koirala, who is currently on a visit to the UK, discussed various issues related to Nepal’s peace process during the meeting. Martin emphasized the need for Nepal to conclude the peace process as soon as possible.

According to Koirala’s Private Secretariat, Martin expressed the view that the peace process should not be prolonged.

He urged for a swift resolution of the transitional justice issue, particularly as Nepal currently faces no violence and the then rebelling party has already participated in the electoral process.
