Nepal Police collects over Rs 2.24 billion in revenue

KATHMANDU: In the first five months of the current fiscal year 2024/25, Nepal Police has collected over Rs 2.24 billion in revenue through various enforcement actions.

The police have implemented special action plans, running campaigns to prevent illegal activities and conduct operations in different areas.

According to Nepal Police Spokesperson SSP Bishwo Adhikari, this revenue was collected through operations targeting illegal goods, traffic violations, hundi, gold smuggling, riverbed excavation, and other activities.

The highest revenue, amounting to Rs 905.7 million 40.42 percent, was collected from the confiscation of illegal goods.

Traffic fines contributed Rs 520.7 million, followed by Rs 427.4 million from court judgment enforcement, Rs 262.9 million from illegal gold and silver seizures, and Rs 43.7 million from illegal foreign currency exchange  transactions.

Additionally, Rs 29 million were collected from unidentified sources, Rs 18.3 million from hundi, and Rs 12 million from the confiscation of illegal timber.

According to the police, from the month Nepali months of Sawan to Mangsir (July 16 to December 15), Rs 11.6 million were raised through the illegal wildlife control campaign, while over Rs 9.2 million came from operations targeting illegal riverbed excavation.
