Minister Pun, ADB reps discuss installation of 1,000 solar pumps in terai districts



KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Barsa Man Pun returned home today after taking part in the 3rd World Irrigation Forum held in Indonesia.

Labeling his Indonesia visit a success, Minister Pun said he discussed irrigation issues with world leaders in the summit.

“Discussions were held on the possibilities of implementing irrigation projects in Nepal,” he said.

On the occasion, Minister Pun also held talks with Asian Development Bank (ADB) representative about implementing irrigation projects by installing one thousand solar pumps in Nepal’s Sarlahi and Rautahat districts.

The ADB is currently studying on irrigating around 40 thousand hectares of land in the two districts.

Likewise, ADB is also delving into a project that would produce 20 MW electricity in Nepal.
