BHOJPUR: Arun Danda (Chhintalung), located in Rural Municipality-1 of Poudandunga in Bhojpur district, has emerged as a favorite destination for domestic tourists.

The rural municipality has established itself as a prominent tourist spot after developing the necessary infrastructure and amenities.

Being close to the district headquarters, Arun Danda offers an ideal getaway for tourists looking to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life while enjoying scenic views.

Kiran Rai, Chairman of the Rural Municipality, shared that the number of visitors has been steadily increasing, especially after the installation of statues of Buddha, Shiva, and Yalambar, which were built in collaboration between the rural municipality and the Koshi Province government.

Rai also mentioned that a detailed project report (DPR) has been prepared to further develop Arun Danda as the main tourist destination within the municipality.

He expressed confidence that once fully developed, Arun Danda will play a significant role in the economic growth of the area.

“The development of Arun Danda and the infrastructure leading to it is underway,” said Chairman Rai.

“Our goal is to expand the area, covering approximately 80 ropanis, for larger-scale development. We are focusing on creating a sustainable tourism model that will contribute to the economic upliftment of the rural municipality.”

Rajendra Tamang, the Ward Chairman of Pauwadungma-1, highlighted that a pedestrian path and rest area have been established, along with road expansions to improve accessibility.

He mentioned that tourists visit the area not only to enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain ranges and plains but also to worship at the local temple.

“The Arun Danda tourist area also holds religious significance,” said Ward Chairman Tamang.

“Visitors come for both the natural beauty and the opportunity to worship at the temple, often after fulfilling their vows.”

Although precise data on the number of visitors is not available, Tamang noted that previously around 10-15 people visited daily.

However, with the improved infrastructure, the number of visitors has now increased to 25-30 people per day.

Nabin Bhattarai, the Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality, shared that efforts are underway to develop infrastructure in a planned and sustainable manner to enhance the living standards of locals while promoting tourism.

He also mentioned that studies are being conducted to explore the potential for tea cultivation in the area, aiming to attract more tourists.

Local resident Lal Bahadur Tamang mentioned that tourists visit Arun Danda to enjoy its natural beauty and to sample local dishes.

He added that the increased number of visitors has also been facilitated by its proximity to the Bhojpur-Leguwa Mid-Hill Highway, which has made the area more accessible.

“The number of tourists has grown significantly, thanks to the efforts of the village council in developing Arun Danda,” said Tamang.

“During holidays, we see even more domestic visitors. Recently, the area has become a favorite destination for many.”

Located at an altitude of 2,300 meters above sea level, Arun Danda is not only a popular tourist spot but also a religious site, drawing visitors from near and far.
