DHANGADHI: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has dismissed rumors of a ministerial reshuffle, stating that there have been no discussions regarding this matter to date.
Speaking at a program Dhangadhi today, Lekhak explained that in a prime ministerial system, the Prime Minister has the authority to reshuffle ministers as necessary.
He noted that, as this is a two-party government, any reshuffling would require discussions between the parties; however, no such discussions have occurred thus far.
Lekhak expressed confidence that the current coalition government will remain intact until 2084 BS, adding that after one year and eight months, the current Prime Minister is expected to be replaced by Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Asked about potential disputes between the two parties regarding the Prime Minister’s upcoming visit to China, Lekhak claimed that what had been presented as a significant issue was merely a matter of ordinary discussions that had been exaggerated into baseless rumors.
He stated, “There is no disagreement between UML and Congress on any issue. Although the two parties are main competitors, we are successfully governing together, and we will continue to do so until the next elections.”
Addressing the tradition of foreign visits following a new Prime Minister’s appointment, Lekhak indicated that it is customary for the Prime Minister to visit either India or China first.
He confirmed that the date for the Prime Minister’s visit to China has been set, and that he will travel to India immediately afterward.
