Agriculture Minister leaves for Italy to participate in meeting of World Food Forum



KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari, has left here today for Rome, the capital of Italy, in connection with attending the World Food Forum meeting.

Organized by the United Nations, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the event will run from October 14-18 and Minister Adhikari is leading the Nepali delegation comprising of Ministry officials to the forum, Minister Adhikari’s press coordinator Praveen Pokharel said.

House of Representatives, the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee president Kusum Thapa is also in the delegation.

The Nepali delegation will present in the World Food Forum the works Nepal has carried out on the topics of food safety and food purity.

The theme of the WFF flagship event is: “Good food for all, for today and tomorrow”.

Organized around three pillars – Global Youth Action, Science and Innovation and Hand-in-Hand Investment – the 2024, flagship event leverages the power of intergenerational collaboration, as well as partnerships and action across policy, science, innovation, education, culture and investment, the FAO stated in its official website.

The FAO stated that this year, the event will also host the 2024 edition of the annual World Food Day and the High-Level Rome Water Dialogue on WASAG – The Global Framework on Water Scarcity in Agriculture, as well as the Global Family Farming Forum, ensuring even more inclusivity, dialogues and solutions for the present and future of our agrifood systems.
