Fulpati: Seventh day of Dashain observed today

Fulpati was brought into homes across the country today in observance of the Bada Dashain festival.

Fulpati, an assortment of auspicious flowers, leaves, and fruits, is anointed at the Dashain Ghar on the seventh day of this celebration.

The Fulpati is transported to Kathmandu following Vedic rites to be consecrated at the Dashain Ghar in Hanumandhoka Durbar.

The procession features the Gurujyuko platoon of the Nepal Army, the Nepal Police, and high-ranking officials from the Armed Police and civil service, alongside the Asha Gurja team, band music, Panchebaja, and decorated kalsyoulis.

They depart from Jamal for Hanuman Dhoka, carrying the Fulpati.

Eight lakh people leave Kathmandu Valley for Dashain

Around 800 thousand passengers have already departed from the Kathmandu Valley to celebrate Dashain.

According to the Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs, approximately one million passengers will leave Kahtmandu Valley for Dashain this year.

Federation President Bijay Swar stated that they initially expected between 150,000 to 180,000 people to leave the Valley during Dashain.

However, the actual numbers have been lower than anticipated due to disruptions in road operations caused by floods and landslides.

Festivals help to preserve and promote cultural traditions: Vice President

Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav has expressed his belief that prayers and pooja performed with faith and sincerity on the occasion of Bijaya Dashami would help make one’s spiritual life worthwhile.

Extending his best wishes on the occasion of Bijaya Dashami in a message today, he has wished that may this festival of joy, happiness and unity put an end to bad behavior in everyone’s life and spread new energy and enthusiasm in the society.

Stating festivals have helped to preserve and promote our cultural traditions, he mentioned that Bijaya Dashami also known as Dashain, Bada Dashain, Dushera, Durga Puja, Navratri etc. according to geography, region, class and community is celebrated as a symbol of the victory of truth over falsehood.

India delivers prefabricated steel bridge components to Nepal

India delivered the first batch of components for ten prefabricated steel bridges to the Government of Nepal.

This delivery follows a request from Nepal and aims to support the country’s reconstruction efforts to restore road connectivity disrupted by recent floods and landslides.

According to the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, the components, valued at over Rs 380 million, have been provided as grants.

Devotees throng Goddess shrines on Fulpati

Crowds gathered at goddess shrines nationwide today to worship and pay homage to the deity on Fulpati, the seventh day of the 10-day Bada Dashain festival.

Devotees believe that offering prayers to goddess Nawadurga, especially during Navratri, can fulfill their wishes.

Navratri consists of nine nights within the larger celebration of Bada Dashain, the most significant festival for Nepalis.

In the Pashupati area, large numbers of devotees flocked to temples such as Guhyeshwori, Bhubaneshwari, Vatsaleshwori, and Jaya Bageshwari.

Dashain strengthens unity among community, family and individuals, says Deuba

President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba has described Bada Dashain as a festival that strengthens unity among communities, institutions, families and individuals.

In a message of best wishes on the occasion of Bada Dashain festival, President Deuba said that the country has been affected by floods and landslides with significant loss to human lives and property, and prayed that may Durga Bhavani gives us the strength and determination to at this time of calamity.

Public transport sector suffers damage worth 730 million in disaster

The incessant rainfall that took place in mostly in central and eastern parts of the country on 27 and 28 September has inflicted damages worth Rs 730 million to the public transport sector.

According to the information shared by the National Federation Transport Entrepreneurs Nepal, the damage has been estimated to be around Rs. 729.80 million.

Among the damages, Western Nepal Passenger Bus Entrepreneurs Pvt. Ltd. suffered a loss of Rs. 118 million, Namaste Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs Pvt. Ltd. lost Rs. 28.5 million while Gorkha Daraundi Transport Service Company Rs. 6 million.

Dawa becomes first Nepali woman to climb all 8,000-meter mountains

Record mountaineer Dawa Yangjum Sherpa has made history as the first Nepali woman to successfully summit all 14 mountains above 8,000 meters in the world.

The 33-year-old climber from Dolakha achieved this remarkable feat by reaching the summit of Shishapangma (8,027 meters) in Tibet at 5 a.m. on Wednesday.

Dawa first conquered Mount Everest at the age of 22 and has since summited the world’s highest peak four times.
