Nepal and United States sign Bilateral Consultation Mechanism agreement



WASHINGTON DC: Nepal and the United States have signed an agreement establishing a Bilateral Consultation Mechanism.

The agreement was reached at the U.S. Department of State and signed by Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana on behalf of Nepal, and Acting Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs John Bass on behalf of the United States.

This mechanism will facilitate consultations and discussions in Kathmandu and Washington DC, involving high officials from Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. State Department.

Following the signing, the ministers of both countries engaged in discussions on various issues of mutual interest.

Representing Nepal were Secretary of Foreign Affairs Sewa Lamsal, Acting Ambassador to the U.S. Kumarraj Kharel, and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lu.

Foreign Minister Rana left Washington for Doha, where she will lead Nepal’s delegation at the Asian Cooperation Dialogue Summit.
