Minister Gyawali says Nepal, India are interdependent

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali has described Nepal-India relations as ‘interconnected and interdependent’.

Speaking at a program on the eve of India’s 73rd Independence Day, Minister Gyawali said a prosperous India can be an opportunity for Nepal.

He lauded India for making significant achievements in the economic sector while saying that India has secured its position in the list of the world’s five-six big economies.

Several projects, Minister Gyawali said, of mutual interest, including the Motihari-Amlekhgunj Petroleum Pipeline Project had been completed.

He maintained that lately, the two countries have been working in regard to trans-border railway service, and agricultural development.

Likewise, India’s Ambassador for Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri, appreciated the role of Nepalese leaders for their contribution to India’s independence movement.

Saying that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Nepal twice in 2018, his visits to Janakpur and Mustang resulted in a significant rise in the arrivals of Indian tourists in those areas.

He also maintained that Nepal would undergo a significant change after the timely completion of the Arun III Hydropower Project.
