Deaths in the Everest not due to congestion: Report



KATHMANDU: A task force formed by the government after the death of some mountaineers in the course of climbing Mt Everest has ruled out any congestion in the mountain.

The task force formed under Ghanashyam Upadhyaya, the Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has said that the congestion, as widely claimed and criticized, could not be proved.

According to Upadhyaya, no evidence of congestion was found by the task force during the course of the investigation. He said it was just a line, not congestion.

15 mountaineers had died, while two still missing while trying to reach the top of the Mt Everest during the 2019 spring season.
