KATHMANDU: Despite the formation of a two-thirds majority government for the first time in its democratic history, law and order situation has continued to deteriorate, a report in The Himalayan Times said.
According to Nepal Police , crime rate has gone up by 24 percent in the fiscal 2017-18 compared to the previous fiscal. A total of 39,315 cases of crimes were recorded in 2017-18 against 28,563 cases in the fiscal 2016-17.
Similarly, police recorded a total of 1,480 rape cases in the fiscal 2017-18, said the report.
