Two people succumb to dengue in Jhapa and Tanahu



KATHMANDU: Two persons have died from dengue infection in Jhapa and Tanahu.

According to the Department of Epidemiology and Disease Control, a woman in Jhapa and a man in Tanahu succumbed to the disease.

Dr. Yadu Chandra Ghimire, Director of the Department, said that a 40-year-old woman passed away in Jhapa a few days ago, while a 50-year-old man from Damauli in Tanahu also died due to dengue infection.

Since December of last year, more than 2,300 dengue cases have been confirmed nationwide, with the infection spreading to 73 districts across Nepal.

In the Kathmandu Valley alone, 287 cases have been recorded.

Last year, dengue caused the deaths of 20 individuals in Nepal.
