International Hot Air Balloon Festival in Pokhara

KASKI: An international hot air balloon festival will be held in Pokhara from December 29 to January 2, marking New Year 2025.

Balloon Nepal Pvt. Ltd is organizing the event to promote Pokhara internationally, particularly around the Phewa Lake area.

Bikram Bade, Chairperson of Balloon Nepal Pvt. Ltd, announced that 20 to 25 balloons from various countries will participate in the festival, which is estimated to cost Rs 6.5 million.

The event is supported and collaborated with the Nepal Tourism Board, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the Gandaki Province Government, Pokhara Metropolitan City, the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority, and the Pokhara Tourism Council.

Pomnarayan Shrestha, Chairperson of the Pokhara Tourism Council, stated that the festival will be a historic event for Pokhara, the tourism capital of Nepal, and for the entire Gandaki province.

Sabin Maharjan, the proprietor of Balloon Nepal, highlighted that flying in a hot air balloon offers stunning views of the mountains such as Machhapuchhre and Annapurna, the full-sized Phewa Lake, Pumdikot Mahadev, paragliders from Sarangkot, and the beautiful scenery around the Pokhara Valley.
