KATHMANDU: A passenger bus traveling from Bajhang to Kathmandu narrowly averted disaster when it was struck by a landslide at Bagadgaon along the Jay Prithvi Highway in Bajhang on Friday.

The bus was fortunate to avoid overturning despite a large landslide crashing down onto the road while it was in motion.

The force of the landslide pushed the rear of the bus towards a hillside, but its size prevented it from slipping off the road.

This incident comes in the wake of another tragic event last Friday in Bharatpur-29 Simaltal, where two buses were swept away by a landslide and remain missing.

With the monsoon season underway, the risk of landslides is significantly heightened, particularly in hilly and far-western mountainous regions.
