Tech use essential to reduce disaster impacts: Koshi CM Karki

BIRATNAGAR: Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Hikmat Kumar Karki, has said it is essential to use technology to reduce disaster impacts.

He directed the bodies concerned to ensure free WiFi facility to relay information on time.

Inaugurating a dedicated news portal of Minister for Internal Affairs- bipad.koshi.gov.np, CM Karki said the installation of free WiFi service could help exchange information and views on time so that impacts of disaster and invasion of wild animals could be reduced.

Once people have access to reliable information on time, it would also help improve security situation.

“Timely information helps maintain alertness, and intensify search and rescue works,” he underlined, reminding the rapid response adopted during COVID.

Similarly, Minister for Internal Affairs and Law, Lila Ballav Ghimire, said government was committed to extending utmost support to reduce disaster impacts and save people’s lives and property.

The dedicated portal in the province would help relay information relating to disaster on time, he hoped.

The dedicated website features audiovisual messages, news feed, early warning, complaints and suggestions, according to web developer, Divas Lamichhane.
