Road construction slows: 28 km new roads constructed in FY 2080/81

KATHMANDU: Only 28 kilometers of new roads have been constructed in FY 2080/81.

According to the economic survey for the fiscal year 2080/81, the construction of new roads this year is significantly lower compared to the previous five years.

This is the statistics of first eight months of the current fiscal year (Shrawan to Falgun).

243 kilometers of new roads were constructed in FY 2079/80.

Likewise, the economic surveys of fiscal years 2078/79 and 2077/78 reported the construction of 280 kilometers and 472 kilometers of new roads, respectively.

This year, only 190 kilometers of roads have been upgraded to blacktop level, whereas it was 628 kilometers last year.

The improvement to gravel level is only 189 kilometers this year, compared to 820 kilometers last year.

Additionally, there have been 67 bridge constructions this year, while there were 222 bridges constructed last year.
