JSP Chair Yadav moves SC seeking stay order against PM Dahal’s vote of confidence proposal

KATHMANDU: Upendra Yadav, Chairman of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal, has filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court (SC) demanding a halt to the vote of confidence motion announced by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ in parliament.

Previously, the SC had issued an order to maintain the party’s registration process amidst the ongoing dispute within the JSP over its division.

Taking cue from this order, Chairman Yadav has filed a writ petition at the SC.

Yadav led the JSP Nepal after its division on May 5.

Prime Minister Dahal had written to the Parliament Secretariat a few days ago, requesting to schedule a vote of confidence in the House for Monday.

Given the tense situation within the JSP and the potential invalidity of the vote of confidence in parliament, JSP demanded a halt to the vote of confidence through the writ petition.
