Election Commission of Nepal, parties agree to hold by-elections in Nov/Dec



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission of Nepal (ECN) and political parties have agreed to hold by-elections in Nov/Dec.

The agreement was reached to hold by-elections for the vacant posts of ward members to House of Representatives members during discussions between ECN and political parties on Thursday.

ECN said it is ready to conduct by-elections in Nov/Dec.

“There are no hurdles to hold by-elections in Nov/Dec. A conclusion can be reached following a consultation with the government,” said Spokesperson Shankar Prasad Kharel.

According to ECN, by-elections should be held for some 50 vacant positions.
