KATHMANDU: Members of the parliamentary State Affairs and Good Governance Committee on Monday inspected the squatter holding centre in Banepa.
A 15-member team comprising committee members and officials, led by committee chair Hari Dhakal, visited the holding centre in the morning.
During the inspection, the team collected demands raised by residents currently staying at the facility, focusing on issues requiring immediate attention.
Some of the displaced residents became emotional and broke down in tears while sharing their hardships with the visiting team.
The residents demanded proper arrangements for their children’s education, better management and treatment for chronically ill patients, and quicker arrangements for permanent settlement.
Committee chair Dhakal said efforts would be made to ensure proper education and healthcare services for the residents as soon as possible.
