414 climbers granted permission to scale Mount Everest

KATHMANDU: This spring season, a total of 414 climbers, comprising 75 women and 339 men from 41 mountaineering groups, have been granted permission to ascend Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak.

The Department of Tourism confirmed the figures, noting that last year saw the highest number of climbers, with 478 individuals receiving permission to climb Mount Everest.

Chun Bahadur Tamang, a Section Officer at the Department, stated that a total of 971 mountaineers from 112 climbing groups have secured permission to ascend 30 mountains, including Mount Everest, this season.

The department has collected a total royalty of Rs 674.7 million from mountaineering permissions, with Mount Everest alone contributing around Rs 592.3 million to the total.
