KANCHANPUR: Over the past nine months, the Kanchanpur police have taken action against 216 individuals, including 12 women, for drug addiction and trafficking offenses.

Chief Superintendent of Police Chakraraj Joshi from the District Police Office in Kanchanpur said that 204 men and 12 women were arrested by the end of the current fiscal year 2080-81.

The arrests involved the seizure of drugs such as hashish and brown heroin.

According to Joshi, nearly 300 grams of brown heroin and seven kilograms of hashish were recovered from the suspects.

Joshi highlighted that parental supervision is crucial, as the lack of it can lead to children’s involvement in drug use and dealing. He urged citizens and parents to be vigilant about this serious issue.

Superintendent Joshi added that the police have intensified their activities in areas where drugs are traded and along the border, where drugs are smuggled from India.

“Drug dealing has been observed from border settlements to the district headquarters,” he said. “We are also conducting awareness programs.” Most of the individuals arrested in drug cases are young people.

Joshi stated that he is coordinating with Indian security agencies to control drug trafficking.

In addition, in the last nine months, the police have arrested 160 fugitive suspects in Kanchanpur and taken necessary action.
