Maoist Center leader Mahara appointed as Lumbini Chief Minister

RUPANDEHI: Jokh Bahadur Mahara, the leader of the CPN-Maoist Center parliamentary party in Lumbini Province, has been appointed as the Chief Minister of the province.

Province Chief Amik Sherchan appointed Mahara as the Chief Minister in accordance with Article 168(2) of the Constitution.

Mahara has the support of 48 members of the Provincial Assembly, including 29 from the CPN-UML, 10 from the Maoist Center, 4 from the Nagarik Unmukti Party, 3 from the Janata Samajbadi party, 1 from the CPN-Unified Socialist, and 1 independent.

According to the Office of the Province Chief, the swearing-in ceremony for the newly appointed Chief Minister will be held on Sunday.
