Govt recommends removal of Gandaki, Madhes, and Sudurpaschim province chiefs

KATHMANDU: In a Cabinet meeting convened at Singha Durbar on Monday, the government has proposed the dismissal of the province chiefs of Gandaki, Madhes, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

According to government spokesperson Rekha Sharma, the decision to recommend the release of the provincial chiefs was made during the meeting.

The meeting nominated Dilli Raj Bhatta for Gandaki, Sumitra Bhandari for Madhes, and Nazir Miya for Sudurpaschim as potential candidates for the provincial chief positions.

Sharma clarified that the objective behind this decision is to ensure smooth functioning for both federal and provincial governments.

Additionally, the meeting formed various committees under the Cabinet, with the political committee led by the Prime Minister, the economic committee led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, the legislative committee led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs, the administrative committee led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the social committee led by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health.

Spokesperson Sharma provided details about the leadership roles within these committees, emphasizing the necessity of effective coordination among government bodies.
