NC Mahasamiti: Closed session begins today

KATHMANDU: The closed session of the Nepali Congress (NC) Mahasamiti, the party’s highest policy-making body, inaugurated on Monday at Godavari in Lalitpur, is starting today.

During this session, NC Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka is slated to present a comprehensive policy report.

Likewise, General Secretary Gagan Thapa is scheduled to present an organizational report, and another General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma is slated to address pertinent issues in his report.

Similarly, NC Spokesperson Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat is scheduled to present a report on the current economic situation and challenges.

Following extensive discussions late into the night, a consensus emerged on various matters.

However, it has been noted that NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba holds a disagreement on a specific issue within General Secretary Thapa’s organizational report.

After prolonged deliberations, Thapa submitted a proposal to the Mahasamiti regarding the issue.

The proposal centers around the assertion that “…it was our obligation to form an alliance in the 2079 BS elections, but the Nepali Congress is determined that we will fight the upcoming elections alone on our own strength and will ensure that our supporters and well-wishers can cast their votes only in the ‘tree’ election symbol.”
