KATHMANDU: Three Nepalis trying to flee from Russian Army have been taken under the army control from Moscow Airport.
Three Nepalis, namely Sajan Lopchan Tamang from Lalitpur, Madan Kumal from Gorkha, and Suren Tamang from Jhapa, who were trying to evade war and flee from Ukraine’s Russia controlled zone planned to safely return to Nepal via Moscow Airport have been taken back by Russian Army.
These individuals, recruited in the Russian Army three months ago and involved in continuous conflict in Ukrainian territory, arrived in Moscow on Wednesday with a plan to return Kathmandu via Moscow-Sharjah-Kathmandu flight of Air Arabia.
According to sources, Kumal’s relatives informed the consular service department at the Nepal’s Embassy in Moscow about the incident.
These three Nepali nationals had visited the Nepali Embassy in Moscow and acquired travel documents to return home.
“The Embassy in Moscow has been informed about this. According to the information received, Sajan Lopchan Tamang had previously attempted to return twice but was caught both times before reaching safety,” stated a senior official from the Consular Service. “This is why two others, who were also caught, are reported to be in custody after being intercepted. However, we do not have information about where they have been detained.”
According to information provided by the Nepali Embassy in Moscow, 10 Nepali nationals, including these three, have coordinated with the Consular Section, obtaining travel documents for returning home within the last two months.
The Nepali Embassy in Moscow reported that the Russian military took control of the three upon their arrival at Moscow Airport on Wednesday. These individuals, along with 10 others, have been residing in conflict zones in Ukraine.
