Nepal eyes victory in 2nd One-Day match against Canada today

KATHMANDU: Today marks the second encounter in the one-day series as Nepal takes on Canada at Kirtipur Cricket Ground.

Riding high on their seven-run triumph in the first match on Thursday, Nepal is set to enter the field with boosted morale for the upcoming clash, scheduled to commence at 9:15 AM.

The final match of the series is slated for Monday.

In the previous face-off, Nepal emerged victorious by defending a target of 225 runs, as Canada succumbed to the relentless bowling attack.

Captain Rohit Paudel played a pivotal role, claiming four wickets and steering the game in Nepal’s favor.

The match concluded with Canada at 217 runs in 47.5 overs.

Captain Paudel’s performance not only secured the win but also turned the tide in favor of Nepal.

Other contributors to the bowling prowess included Lalit Rajbanshi with two wickets, while Sompal Kami, Rijan Dhakal, Kushal Malla, and Pawan Sarraf each took one wicket.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Nepal posted a total of 224 runs, losing all wickets in the allocated 50 overs.

Opener Kushal Bhurtel led the charge with a half-century innings, scoring 62 runs.

The Nepali team lineup for today’s match against Canada includes Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel, Asif Sheikh, Kushal Bhurtel, Dev Khanal, Kushal Malla, Bhim Sarki, Arif Sheikh, Pawan Saraf, Sompal Kami, Hemanta Dhami, Rijan Dhakal, Surya Tamang, Lalit Rajbanshi, Akash Chand, and Anil Shah.
