PM Cup Cricket: Army secures victory over Karnali by 164 runs



KATHMANDU: On Sunday, Tribhuvan Army Club, the departmental team of Nepal Army, secured a convincing victory over Karnali province by 164 runs in a match held at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur on Sunday.

In the match played under the Prime Minister’s Cup National Cricket Tournament, the Army Club set a target of 280 runs for Karnali. However, Karnali fell short, managing only 115 runs in 29 overs, resulting in a comprehensive win for the Army.

Earlier, in their batting innings, Army Captain Binod Bhandari’s century and Basir Ahmad’s 98 runs contributed significantly as they posted a total of 279 runs, losing five wickets in 50 overs.

Following this victory, the Army now holds the third position in the points table. With five wins in seven matches, they have accumulated 10 points, securing the third spot in the rankings.

On the other hand, Karnali has suffered its fifth defeat in eight matches, accumulating six points and currently residing in the seventh position in the standings.
