Madhes Province dominates Prime Minister Cup: Defeats Karnali Province by 61 runs



KATHMANDU: In a thrilling encounter at the Tribhuvan University (TU) cricket ground, Madhes Province emerged victorious against Karnali Province by a convincing 61-run margin in a match of the Prime Minister Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament 2024.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Madhes Province set the stage with a competitive total of 231 runs, losing nine wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Karnali Province, tasked with chasing the target, managed to restrict Madhes Province effectively but fell short in their own batting innings, getting all out at 170 runs in 41.1 overs.

Madhes Province’s captain, Hari Shankar Shah, and Mayan Yadav played crucial roles, each contributing 50 runs to the team’s total. Opening batsman Anil Sah added 44 runs, steering the team towards a defendable score.

In the bowling department, Karnali Province’s Dipendra Rawat stood out, taking a maximum of four wickets, while Anuj Chanara contributed with two wickets. Additionally, Dipesh Adhikari, Unish B Singh, and Diwan Pun each secured one wicket.

This victory marks a significant achievement for Madhes Province in the ongoing tournament, showcasing their prowess in the Prime Minister Cup.
