Madhesh Province sets 232-run target for Karnali Province in PM Cup showdown

KATHMANDU: In a gripping encounter at the Tribhuvan University (TU) cricket ground, Madhesh Province has set a challenging target of 232 runs for Karnali Province in a match of the Prime Minister Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament 2024.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Madhesh Province faced formidable bowling from Karnali, managing to score 231 runs while losing nine wickets in the allocated 50 overs.

Captain Hari Shankar Shah and Mayan Yadav emerged as the top contributors for Madhesh, both adding crucial 50 runs each to the team’s total.

Opening partner Anil Sah also played a pivotal role with a score of 44, steering Madhesh Province to a defendable total.

On the bowling front, Karnali Province’s Dipendra Rawat shone with the ball, taking the highest number of wickets with a four-wicket haul.

Anuj Chanara followed suit with two wickets, while Dipesh Adhikari, Unish B Singh, and Diwan Pun contributed one wicket each.

The stage is now set for an exciting chase as Karnali Province gears up to face the 232-run target.
