President issues Ordinance on Fiscal Procedures

President Ram Chandra Paudel has issued an ordinance to bring an amendment to the Fiscal Procedures and Fiscal Procedures and Financial Accountability Act. According to Article 114 of the Constitution, the President issued the Ordinance on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, according to the Office of the President.

UML Chair Oli labels coalition govt ‘traitorous’

CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli denounced the coalition government, branding it as ‘traitorous’. Speaking at a program in Chyasal of Lalitpur on Thursday, Oli, asserted that there is an urgent necessity for a movement against the current Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government. He criticized the ruling coalition, saying, “There is a saying that birds of the same feather fly together. They belong to the same race. They are of corrupt descent.”

Kathmandu ranks seventh among most polluted cities globally

Kathmandu, currently holds the seventh position among the world’s most polluted cities. Live data from IQ AirVisual reveals alarming air quality levels, with PM2.5 concentrations reaching 154 micrograms per cubic meter (μg/m3) as of 2 pm today. The PM2.5 concentration in Kathmandu is currently 12.3 times the World Health Organization’s (WHO) annual air quality guideline value, categorizing it as unhealthy.

Trade deficit can be reduced through energy production: DPM Shrestha

Home Affairs Minister, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, has emphasized that hydroelectricity is the major means for reducing trade deficit and taking the country ahead towards prosperity, and the government has kept it in main priority. The central committee meeting of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) witnessed a fervent debate surrounding the topic of cooperatives. Dr. Swarnim Wagle, the Vice Chairman of the Party and Member of Parliament, took the floor to provide a comprehensive briefing on the state of cooperatives across the country. Following Wagle’s presentation, party leaders unanimously decided that all party members in the Parliament would actively advocate for cooperative issues in the House of Representatives.

Campaigner Durga Prasai gets punched in Baglung

An incident occurred in Baglung as Durga Prasai, a campaigner and medical entrepreneur, was physically assaulted in Baglung on Thursday. The assailant, identified as 37-year-old Ram Kanta Gautam from Baglung Municipality-7, punched Prasai while he was on the way to the stage. According to the District Police Office in Baglung, Gautam was arrested following the assault.

Parliamentary committee directs Ministry to submit papers related to MDMS

The House of Representatives, Education, Health and Information Technology Committee has directed the government to submit to documents related to Mobile Device Management System (MDMS) and Telecommunication Traffic Monitoring and Fraud Control System (TERAMOCS).
