U-19 World Cup: Four Nepali players listed in ICC’s ‘Players to Watch’

KATHMANDU: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has included four Nepali players in its ‘Players to Watch’ list for the U-19 World Cup set to commence on January 19.

The ICC has listed Nepal’s captain Dev Khanal, Gulshan Jha, Arjun Kumal, and Durgesh Gupta in the ‘Players to Watch’ list for this World Cup.

Captain Dev and Gulshan have previously played for the Nepali senior team, while Arjun and Durgesh have showcased impressive performances in the Under-19 category.

In the warm-up match played on Saturday, Nepal defeated Scotland, showcasing a dominant performance by dismissing them with 7 wickets based on the DLS method adopted after the match got affected by rain. Before this, Nepal had defeated Scotland and Namibia in two unofficial warm-up matches.

Nepal will now play its second warm-up match against the West Indies on Tuesday. The World Cup, starting from January 19, places Nepal in Group ‘D’ along with Pakistan, Afghanistan, and New Zealand.

Nepal’s first match in the World Cup is scheduled against New Zealand on January 21. Additionally, they will face Pakistan on January 24 and Afghanistan on January 26.
