CAN suspends Sandeep Lamichhane from all cricket matches after rape conviction

KATHMANDU: In the wake of the Kathmandu District Court’s decision to sentence cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane to eight years in prison for his involvement in a rape case, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has taken decisive action by suspending Lamichhane from both domestic and international cricket.

The association’s decision comes after Lamichhane communicated his personal choice to step down from the Nepali Men’s National Cricket Team following the court’s verdict. Lamichhane had expressed his unwillingness to continue his participation in the national team in light of the legal proceedings against him.

Lamichhane’s future in cricket remains uncertain as legal proceedings unfold, and the association upholds its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the sport.
