KATHMANDU: The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is gearing up for the second edition of the ACC Premier Cup T20 cricket tournament, scheduled to take place from April 10-23.
The ACC officially announced the proposed dates for the tournament, spanning from April 10 to 23.
Featuring 10 teams, the Premier Cup promises an intense competition with a total of 24 matches.
While the organizer is yet to be determined, the ACC has revealed that this edition of the Premier Cup will unfold in the vibrant setting of the Middle East.
Participating teams include Nepal, UAE, Oman, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain, as well as the Challenge Cup winners and runners-up.
Notably, the winner of this tournament will earn the coveted spot in the Asia Cup 2025.
Additionally, the top three teams—winner, runner-up, and third-placed—will secure eligibility for the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024.
Having clinched victory in the previous edition, Nepal enters the Premier Cup with high expectations.
The triumphant performance in the last edition earned Nepal a place in the prestigious Asia Cup, where they faced formidable opponents like India and Pakistan.
In an effort to fine-tune their skills, Nepal schedules their participation in the ACC Premier Cup just ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
With only two months between the two tournaments, Nepal aims to make the most of the opportunity to prepare rigorously for the global cricket spectacle set to unfold in America and the West Indies in June.
In a parallel move, ACC has proposed the Women’s Premier Cup T20 tournament, scheduled to commence on February 9.
The event will witness the participation of teams from Thailand, UAE, Indonesia, Nepal, Hong Kong, Malaysia, China, Myanmar, Bhutan, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Singapore, Japan, Qatar, and Maldives.
The stakes are high for the Women’s Premier Cup, as the victorious and runner-up teams will secure berths in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024.
Moreover, the four teams reaching the semi-finals will gain eligibility to compete in the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup in 2025.
