KATHMANDU: In a significant international cooperation effort, the Nepal Police, with the assistance of Interpol, has successfully extradited Rajindra Pasman, a 44-year-old banking criminal, from Qatar.

Hailing from Aurahi Rural Municipality-5 in Dhanusha district, Pasman had been flagged with a red notice by Interpol for his involvement in fraud and organized crime. The spokesperson for the Nepal Police, Kuber Kadayat, confirmed that Pasman’s return to Nepal was facilitated with the collaboration of Interpol Qatar on Monday.

Pasman, along with his accomplices, had illicitly transferred Rs 900,000 from various accounts of Machhapuchhre Bank. Employing ATM cards from different banks, they executed the fraudulent transactions and absconded with the money. Further investigations revealed that Pasman was residing in Qatar for employment at the time.

Responding to the Nepal Police’s request, the Interpol general secretariat had issued a red notice against Pasman on December 7, 2023. This successful extradition underscores the global cooperation in tackling transnational financial crimes, marking a victory for law enforcement agencies working together to ensure justice.
