Bangladesh seals title of U19 Asia Cup Cricket

KATHMANDU: Bangladesh clinched the U-19 Asia Cup title by defeating the UAE with a significant 195-run margin in the tournament’s final match.

The UAE, who had secured a berth in the final by defeating Pakistan, displayed an unworthy performance against Bangladesh today.

Falling short of the target of 283 runs, the UAE lost all their wickets in 24.5 overs, managing to score a mere 87 runs.

Only two UAE batters Dhruv Parasar and Akshat Rai managed to get two digit scores against Bangladesh’s bowlers. Parasar scored 25 runs, and Rai scored 11.

For Bangladesh, Maruf Mridha and Rohanat Borson took three wickets each, while Ikbal Hussain and Shik Jibon secured two wickets each.

Playing at home, the UAE won the toss, and chose to field letting Bangladesh score 282 runs with a loss of eight wickets. Opener Ashiqur Rahman Shibli struck a century for Bangladesh, scoring 129 runs, while Mohammad Rizwan Chaudhary contributed 60 runs, and Ariful Islam scored 50 runs.

Ayman Ahmed from UAE took four wickets against Bangladesh.

Bangladesh had entered the final after defeating India in the semifinals, while Nepal, despite participating in the competition, was eliminated in the group stage, losing to all three teams: India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
