Oli’s sarcasm: Government reluctant to seek Chinese assistance

DAILEKH: In a sarcastic tone, CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli accused the government led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal of hesitating to seek cooperation from China, attributing it to a “fear of other power centers.”

While leading the Mahakali-Mechi Padayatra (Mechi-Mahakali March) along the Mid-hill Highway, Oli noted that despite assurances of assistance from the Chinese government, the current administration hesitates to accept help, expressing concerns about influential nations.

“I can’t understand why the government is so afraid to accept support from our northern neighbor,” he questioned.

Oli urged political parties to shift their focus to development rather than mere political discussions, emphasizing that the responsibility lies with them to build their own country.

Chairman Oli also instructed leaders and activists to promptly initiate development work, stating that true progress must come from within the country.

He emphasized the need to reduce dependency on imports, citing an increase in imports and a decrease in exports, particularly comprising fake exports such as betel nuts brought in from other countries.

UML Chairman Oli further argued that the materials exported to Nepal could not be produced domestically, labeling it a deceptive practice to import and export from other nations.

As part of the UML’s campaign, Oli and UML leaders reached Dullu, where they conducted an on-site inspection of the petroleum exploration site in Bhairavi Rural Municipality-1 of Dailekh on Monday morning.

During the inspection, Oli, also a former Prime Minister, stated that petroleum exploration began under his leadership and stressed the need to advance these efforts further.
