KATHMANDU: Private schools in the Kathmandu Valley remained closed on Thursday as the CPN-UML-affiliated youth organization, Yuva Sangh, and activist Durga Prasai prepared for separate demonstrations.
Despite assurances from the organizers that educational activities would not be disrupted, schools have advised parents not to send their children to school.
This decision coincides with Yuwa Sangh’s planned mass assembly in Tinkune and Prasai’s organization of a demonstration in Balkhu.
Yuwa Sangh aims to protest against the current state of lawlessness and disorder, while Prasai characterizes their action as a grassroots civil initiative.
Both organizers claim that their demonstrations will not impact schools in the Valley. Government schools are yet to make a decision on the matter.
In response to the anticipated protests, heavy security personnel have been deployed in the capital. The police have also urged locals to refrain from unnecessary visits and minimize vehicular use.
