ACC U-19 Premier Cup: Nepal wins Saudi Arabia

KATHMANDU: In a remarkable display of dominance, Nepal outclassed Saudi Arabia by an impressive 301-run margin in the ACC U-19 Premier Cup held in Malaysia.

Nepal’s determined pursuit resulted in a comprehensive triumph as Saudi Arabia managed to gather a mere 46 runs in 19.1 overs while chasing the challenging target of 348 runs set by Nepal.

The victory secured Nepal’s place as the victors of Group A, propelling them into the semi-finals where they will face the winner of Group D.

Nepal’s bowling attack, led by Dipesh Kandel’s six-wicket haul, with support from Akash Chand’s two wickets and Shubash Bhandari’s solitary wicket, effectively dismantled the Saudi Arabian lineup.

Earlier in the game, despite losing the toss and being put in to bat first in Malaysia, Nepal managed to accumulate a formidable total of 347 runs, losing 8 wickets in the process.

Arjun Kumal’s remarkable century, marked by a composed knock of 142 runs, along with crucial contributions from Akash Tripathi (89 runs) and Deepak Bohora (29 runs), laid the foundation for Nepal’s formidable score.

However, the captain, Dev Khanna, failed to make an impact as he was dismissed for a duck.

Deepak Prakash Dumre (14 runs), Milan Bohara (9 runs), and Dipesh Kandel (14 runs) all played their part in bolstering Nepal’s score, with Bishal Bikram KC remaining unbeaten on 24 runs.

Saudi Arabian bowlers Mohammad Ahmed Raja and Mohammad Ghayor Ahmed managed to secure two wickets each, while Zuhair Mohammad, Abdullaha Shiraz, and Shajib Mujibur Rahman each claimed one wicket.
