KATHMANDU: In what can be dubbed a devastating incident, 10 Nepali students lost their lives in Israel as a result of a Hamas attack, as confirmed by Kanta Rijal, the Nepalese Ambassador to Israel.
Ten Nepali nationals lost their lives in a terrorist attack that occurred in Israel on Saturday.
The attack, orchestrated by the Palestinian Hamas terrorist group, occurred in the southern region of Israel, specifically in a location known as Kivuz Alumim.
According to eyewitness accounts from Nepali nationals present at the scene, a bomb struck the location where these students were pursuing their studies in Israel.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has pledged to provide further details on this heart-wrenching incident shortly.
The victims have been identified as Narayan Prasad Neupane from Kailali Ghodaghodi 4, Ganesh Kumar Nepali from Bajhang, Ashish Chaudhary from Kailali, Dipesh Raj Bista from Darchula, Anand Sah from Dhanusha, Rajesh Kumar Sarvankar from Sunsari, Rajan Phulra, Padam Thapa, Prabesh Bhandari from Salyan, and Lokendra Singh Dhami from Darchula
Additionally, six individuals have sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment, while one person remains unaccounted for.
The local Social Welfare Organization also confirmed the deaths of these 10 injured Nepalis.
The assault was carried out by the Palestinian Hamas group in the southern region of Israel.
So far, the attack has claimed the lives of hundreds of individuals, and resulted in several abductions and hostage situations orchestrated by the Hamas group.
Currently, approximately 4,500 Nepali caregivers are working in Israel.
Additionally, 265 Nepali students, participating in the Israeli government’s ‘Learn and Earn’ program, are studying in the country.
Among these students, 119 are from Nepal Agricultural University, 97 from Tribhuvan University, and 49 from Sudurpaschim University.
Foreign Minister NP Saud on Sunday informed the Parliament about the situation, emphasizing that 12 Nepali citizens remain uncontactable, raising concerns about their well-being.
