KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to undertake projects aligned with China’s Belt and Road Initiatives (BRI).

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Sunday, Prime Minister Dahal highlighted the potential for mutual benefit between China and Nepal, emphasizing the need to transform this potential into concrete opportunities.

Prime Minister Dahal stated, “Nepal is dedicated to advancing BRI-based projects by leveraging the achievements from President Xi Jinping’s historic 2019 visit and subsequent bilateral engagements during my previous tenure as the government leader.”

He further noted China’s pursuit of sustainable development and shared prosperity through the BRI.

He pointed out that Nepal urgently requires substantial investments in infrastructure development, which cannot be solely met through conventional development aid.

Prime Minister DahaL also observed that while over a decade has passed, Nepal has yet to attract significant investment despite more than $1,000 billion being invested through the BRI.

He emphasized the necessity of devising an action plan and initiating work promptly to address this issue.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the 13 points of understanding and agreements reached during his visit to China, highlighting their pivotal role in strengthening political and people-to-people relations.
