Highways blocked across Nepal due to heavy rainfall

KATHMANDU: The persistent rainfall across the country has led to the obstruction of three highways at separate locations.

The Road Division Office in Bharatpur has reported that the Muglin-Narayangadh road section, prone to recurring landslides, is currently operational without disruptions.

The Department of Road has announced that the road connecting Chatara-Mulghat-Majhitar-Amarapurdanda-Ganeshchowk along the Tamor Corridor is obstructed at the Hewa river in Mazhitar, Panchthar district.

Similarly, the Tansen-Ridi-Korala road within the Kaligandaki corridor is blocked at Baisari in Myagdi.

The Department has also confirmed that the road linking Ridi-Balkot-Hanspur-Pyuthan is impassable at Ashwini in Salyan.

Since the beginning of the monsoon season, 24 highways have suffered damage, according to the Department.

Out of these, 140 locations have restored traffic flow in both directions, while 38 locations allow only one-way traffic, out of a total of 181 affected areas along the highways.
