ICC World Cup Qualifiers: Nepal loses to Netherlands, misses chance to join Super Six



KATHMANDU: Nepal lost to the Netherlands by 7 wickets in the ICC World Cup Qualifiers match undergoing in Zimbabwe.

The target of 168 runs given by Nepal was achieved by the Netherlands in 27.1 overs with the loss of 3 wickets.

Max O’Dowd scored the highest 90 runs for him.

Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane took 2 wickets and Gulshan Jha took 1 wicket.

Before that, Nepal, who lost the toss and were invited to bat at the Takashinga Cricket Sports Club in Zimbabwe, were bowled out for 167 runs in 43 overs.

Captain Rohit Paudel contributed 33 runs, Sandeep Lamichhane 27, Kushal Bhurtel 27, and Bhim Sarki contributed 22 runs for Nepal.

Logan van Beek of the Netherlands took 4 wickets and Bass de Leede and Bikramjit Singh took two wickets each.

Nepal’s dream of reaching the Super Six is incomplete after losing to the Netherlands in the last match of its group stage.

Nepal has been eliminated from the group stage after winning only one of the four matches in the group stage.

In the first match, Nepal lost to Zimbabwe by 8 wickets and defeated America by 6 wickets. In the third match, Nepal lost to the West Indies by a wide margin of 101 runs.

In the fourth match today, Nepal lost to the Netherlands by 7 wickets.
