Okhaldhunga landslide death toll reaches four



KATHMANDU: The death toll from the Okhaldhunga landslide has reached four after the bodies of two missing persons were recovered.

Two persons were killed and two others had gone missing in a landslide that occurred on Thursday night following incessant rainfall. The landslip swept away a house of Ran Bahadur Gurung of Champadevi rural municipality-8.

Ran Bahadur, 36, and his wife Shiva Maya, 29, their 10-year-old son Dinesh and 18-month-old daughter, Kritika, were killed in the landslide.

The bodies of Ran Bahadur and his wife were found in the morning while locals and security personnel retrieved the bodies of Dinesh and Kritika from landslide debris, said Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Devendra Das.

The landslide also swept away the houses of Bal Bahadur Gurung and Jarsingh Gurung.
