KATHMANDU: Malaysia has set a target of 236 runs against Nepal in the first match of the ACC Men’s Premier Cup undergoing in Nepal.
After winning the toss at the TU Cricket Ground, Malaysia started batting and made a total of 235 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.
Captain Ahmad Faiz’s half-century inspired Malaysia to set a target of 236 runs to Nepal.
Faiz, who came to the crease in one down for Malaysia, played an inning of 76 runs off 95 balls with one six and eight fours.
Faiz played an excellent inning by sharing a 116-run partnership with opener Virandeep Singh. Virandeep scored 46 runs off 94 balls with two fours.
Earlier, another opener Mohammad Amir returned to the pavilion scoring 17 runs off 18 balls while Khizar Hayat contributed 22 runs. While Sarjul Idrus scored 21 runs, the other batsmen could not contribute much.
For Nepal, Sompal Kami and Sandeep Lamichhane took three wickets each. Kami took 3 wickets for 40 runs in 9 overs.
Similarly, Lamichhane took three wickets with a maiden for 48 runs in 10 overs. Lalit Rajbanshi sent two and Gulshan Jha one Malaysian batsman back to the pavilion.
