KATHMANDU: The police have arrested a Tibetan refugee with Nepali citizenship.

27-year-old Neema Lhamo Gurung was arrested after it was revealed that she had obtained citizenship from the district administration office in Kathmandu by submitting the name of a fake father in Nepal.

Earlier, the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office had arrested 6 people on the charge of providing citizenship to Tibetans by submitting fake documents.

According to police, Gurung came to Kathmandu 2 years ago from Tibet via Bihar, Delhi, India. She was living in the Tushal, Bouddha based camp of the Tibetans.

The police investigation showed that Gurung contacted Krishna Bahadur Katuwal to obtain Nepali citizenship through a person living in the camp.
