Asia Lions win in Legends League, Paras Khadka not out



KATHMANDU: Nepal’s former captain Paras Khadka’s team has started victoriously in the Legends League cricket held in Doha, Qatar.

Asia Lions of Paras defeated India Maharaj by 9 runs in Friday’s match. Paras played not out for 3 runs.

Lions, who won the toss and batted first, scored 165 runs after losing 6 wickets in the scheduled 20 overs. Pakistan’s Misbah-ul-Haq played the highest score of 73 runs. He hit 4 sixes and 2 fours while facing 50 balls. Similarly, Sri Lankan Upul Tharanga scored 40 runs and faced 39 balls.

He hit 2 sixes. Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi scored 12 runs in 8 balls and hit 2 fours. Similarly, Thisara Perera and Paras Khadka played not out. Perera scored 5 runs in 7 balls while Paras scored 3 runs in 2 balls.

Indian Maharaj’s Stuart Winnie and Parvinder Awana took two wickets each.

The Indian Maharaj team, which entered the field with a target of 166 runs, lost 8 wickets in the stipulated over and could add only 156 runs. Ravin Uthappa was dismissed without opening the account. Captain Gautam Gambhir and Murali Bijay took the team forward with a partnership of 50 runs.

Murali was dismissed for the winning score of 25 runs. He hit 3 fours and 1 six while facing 19 balls.

Similarly, Mohammad Kaif scored 22 runs while Yusuf Pathan added 14 runs. After Gambhir scored 54 runs in 13.1 overs and was dismissed as the fourth wicket, the Indian team was in trouble. He hit 7 fours in 39 balls. Although Irfan Pathan played an attractive knock of 19 runs in 10 balls, it was not enough for the team to win the match.

In the end, Harbhajan Singh and Parvinder Awana played 5 and 1 runs respectively. Sohail Tanbir of Asian Lions took 3 wickets.
