Lawmaker Thapa urges govt to address issues of small farmers



KATHMANDU: Lawmaker Gagan Thapa has urged the government pay their loans at the earliest so that the small farmers rearing chickens do not face an unpleasant decision.

Speaking at zero hour in the House of Representatives, Nepali Congress General Secretary Thapa said that hundreds of farmers are sharing their grievances to the Ministry of Agriculture though to no avail.

“They reach there crying and shouting. These same farmers who took loans from banks and ran small poultry farms,” he said.

Lawmaker Thapa demanded compensation from the government for destroying their (the farmers’) chicken farm to reduce the risk of bird flu.
