President stresses shared national resolve for prosperous Nepal

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has said that building a prosperous Nepal cannot be achieved through government efforts alone or by any single sector, but requires a shared national commitment from the state, private sector and society as a whole.

Speaking at a meeting with officials of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) today, President Paudel expressed hope that the private sector would play a more responsible, creative and leading role in turning the vision of a prosperous Nepal into reality.

He appreciated the private sector’s contribution to Nepal’s economic development and stressed the need for greater government-private sector collaboration to make the national economy more dynamic, productive and competitive.

President Paudel said that the organizational expansion of the federation and the progress of more than 1.4 million businesspeople associated with it would contribute to the overall progress of the country. He noted that the private sector plays a vital role in economic development, job creation and improving people’s living standards.

He said the government needs to ensure policy stability, investment protection, infrastructure development, efficient public administration and a business-friendly environment, while the private sector should further expand investment, production, entrepreneurship, innovation and employment opportunities.

According to President Paudel, mutual trust and cooperation between the government and private sector can lay a strong foundation for economic prosperity.

He said the country’s priorities should include increasing production, promoting exports, attracting domestic and foreign investment, creating employment opportunities and strengthening the competitiveness of the Nepali economy.

The President also emphasized the need to effectively harness opportunities in hydropower, tourism, agriculture and agro-based industries, information technology and manufacturing.

He said creating opportunities for young people to pursue employment and entrepreneurship within the country is a shared responsibility.

President Paudel expressed confidence that, amid digital transformation and growing global competition, the FNCCI would play a more prominent role in connecting its national network with the international economic community and helping Nepali products, services and businesses reach global markets.
