Kathmandu proposed for inscription on ‘World Heritage in Danger’

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley has been proposed for inscription on the List of World Heritage in Danger by UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee (WHC).

In the UNESCO’s 43rd session to be held in Baku of Azerbaijan from 30 June to 10 July this year, the WHC will examine 36 nominations for inscription on the World Heritage List, according to UNESCO.

Besides Kathmandu, the committee has also proposed The Sundarbans in Bangladesh, Ancient City of Nessebar in Bulgaria, Natural and Cultural Heritage of the Ohrid region in Albania/North Macedonia, Babylon in Iraq, and the Islands and Protected Areas of the Gulf of California in Mexico for inscription on the List of World Heritage in Danger.
